Introducing to you…. Mika!!!! My new 5 month old Shiba Inu puppy!
Isn’t she absolutely adorable? She’s been staying with me for a week, and I just heard her 1st bark TODAY!!! Felt like a parent hearing their kids’ first word!

this little furball is wayyyyyyy too cute. Can he take our weather though? I wanted a husky myself but it apparently can’t stand the heat as well!
Hi Alfie! Yes she can! Unlike Huskies, Shibas have a winter double coat and a summer undercoat because of the 4 seasons in Japan. And the summers in Japan is as hot and can be hotter than SG. Hence they are very hardy dogs that adapt to the weather. The only sad thing is that we might not see her winter coat form due to our weather and that is when they look the prettiest. That being said, even dogs that can live in our climate should never be left in the sun and kept in a shady area with lotsa water readily available to them. Personally I wanted a Husky too but thought twice cos its just plain cruel to have that dog in our climate.
Yeah, i’m looking for a young puppy to keep my cat company. : ) Am going to build a small little house for him, but can’t afford for it to be air-conditioned! Where did you get her? And why Mika (beautiful name), it’s ruskie for “god’s child” right?
Shiba’s are great with cats! (so I heard) But they’re not so good with other dogs… I got her from Soo Kee Kennels at Balestier Road. Read it from forums that they import Shibas pretty often and I was quite set on looking for that particular breed as it suits my lifestyle, environment etc. They’re a small dog hence good size for an apartment, unless I’ve a garden, I won’t get a big dog cos they need lotsa space. They’re independent like cats , not lap dogs, highly intelligent, and won’t destroy your furniture (I wanted to get a cat U see but the thought of scratched up sofa and curtains didn’t put me at ease) Basically a Shiba is a big dog packed in a small dog package. I named her Mika cos firstly it’s pretty catchy and easy to call, secondly, I wanted a Japanese name for her since she’s of Japanese linage and Mika means “lovely fragrance” in Japanese! Hee… just thought it was cute!

where did you get ur shiba from arh???… been looking for a suitable dog i could own in the near future… hehe totally love this breed, was watching this show call Miya and her three puppies and they feature this breed of dog, but was unsure of it till i saw it on you blog… hehe

Hi there … beautiful dog that you have. I have also been considering to get the same breed however I have not been able to locate many pet shops that carry this breed. Even went to Pasir Ris Farm to look around but to no success.
Could you let me know which pet shop you bought the Shiba from and for what price.
