Lucky (or to her it may be unlucky) lil’ Mika had her bath today! As her breed doesn’t need to take a bath as often as others (once every 3-4 weeks) because her coat will form a natural waterproof coat and thus will not smell. I read that if we shower her too often, this waterproof coat will never form and chances of her smelling stronger is higher!
I’ve been taking care of her for about a year now, and she really does not smell like other dogs even after a month without a shower!
BUT…
It’s her shedding season again! (twice a year) And that’s when I get tumbleweeds at home! So, this time round when I showered her, I was prepared to see a lot of fur fall off. But to my horror it was a lot more than I’ve expected!
I was happy to get a big tuff of fur off her during the shower, hoping that when I blow dry her my kitchen won’t be covered with her fur flying around.
Nope!
Mika surprises me once again! When I was blow drying her, I felt like it was snowing in my kitchen as fur was floating from the sky. After about an hour of blow drying her, she’s finally dry! (She loves to run around the kitchen while I’m drying her which makes it more tedious) And the 1st time in my life I see a HUGE ball of fur automatically gathered at a corner of my kitchen.
It’s amazing how much fur she sheds and yet still look like she hasn’t lost any fur!
More fur at the other corner of my kitchen.
Even my hairdryer is not spared!
Mika doesn’t care how much fur she sheds, she’s just really happy, fluffy and excited to be all squeaky clean again!
Till next month…
XOXO

hiyee
Mika seems to love to take phtos eh, always looking into ur cam..haha.vivo is the opp..he sees u holding teh cam he turn away..
HI Rina!
Mika gets “bribed” into taking photos! I hold a treat in my hand and make her sit and stay! Heee…
But she’s not camera shy, my previous dog – a shih tzu was like Vivo, always turning away. π
Oh gosh. That’s a lot of fur that Mika’s shed! And I thought that the amount of fur that my cat sheds after a shower was alot. :S
haha..ok but vivo doesnt fall for that, holding a treat to get him to smile at the cam..but my 2 goldens will let u take pic depending on their moods..haha
hahah, Vivo is not very greedy then! Unlike Mika! She’ll work very hard for a treat! Taught her to roll over which is apparently not easy to do so for a Shiba! π I love Goldies! But I find them too big to be stuck in a small apartment like mine, and also a bit cruel if they don’t have a lot of space to run around! Mika LOVES playing with Goldies tho’, she has quite a few good friends around this estate which are Golden Retrievers – always teasing them to chase her. π
Hi Jessica, you have a cute dog here! There is a project about puppy mills going on and seeing that you are a dog lover, hope you will help to do a part, but no oblige though. π
