Just did the Style Weddings fashion show yesterday and it was a blast! This year I had to model 3 different wedding gowns from different bridal boutiques. Had to go through the “quick change” again backstage! I loved all the gowns that I wore… Especially the red one! Very couture…Here are some photos from yesterday….

IMG_3859 - Jessica (small).jpgAfter the show, Daniel Ong and Jaime Teo got married in the same ballroom!!! In their own words “Don’t waste the beautiful stage!” Congratulations D & J!!! So happy for this extremely loving couple… Stayed on to attend their wonderful union and their wedding was really unconventional. In the invites it was already written “Come in your party best!”. They surprised us by hosting their own wedding and “sabo-ed” some unsuspecting people didn’t know they were going to be impromptu hosts (were pre-chosen by the couple)! E.g. the Flying Dutchman, The Muttons and Irene Ang. Had great entertainment by Kumar, Diya, Jon Leong and many more! Food was fantastic! Music fabulous and most importantly the newly weds were extremely blissful and my favorite moment was when Daniel read out his poem to Jaime! I was tearing up when I heard it as it was sooooo sweet! It’s no surprise what’s Jaime’s reaction was….

Photos of this wonderful wedding will be posted up soon!

Stay tuned…

Day 2 of Filming

Just had my second day of filming, and I think it went ok. As expected the director had things to correct about me like my speech in mandarin was too “biao1 zhun3” that it sounded a bit too theatrical hence not simulating a daily natural speech! *hehe* I think I practiced too much with my aunt and Chinese teacher. And my aunt teaches more theater acting in schools hence the influence! 😛

At least correcting that part wasn’t extremely difficult but it did give me stress as I had to consciously remember not to sound like that anymore! Adding in physical acting and facial expressions, it was kinda overwhelming for a newbie like me!

The comforting part was the director was very nice, patient and actually felt my acting was not bad! 🙂 Maybe that was said to not crush my confidence! *hehe*

Oh well, day 2’s over…. looking forward to tomorrow which has longer and a bit more challenging scenes!

Wish me luck!!

XOXO
Jessica

P.S. Just received this new pic of Karen Mok and me in conversation from Shanghai!

Red Carpet & Fashion Show

This is my very first time walking on the red carpet for an event! (minus the one we walked during the Miss Universe competition in Mexico last year)

It’s such a surreal experience as I never imagine myself walking the red carpet one day… furthermore I got a rub shoulders with Asian A-Listers like Tony Leung, Gigi Leung, Karen Mok, Charlie Yeung, Kim Tae Hee just to name a few. (I was only 2 seats away from Tony Leung!!!) Meeting these Asian stars in the flesh is such an honor as I literally grew up watching their films. I too grew up watching Fann Wong’s drama serials! So, sounding a bit like a star-struck little girl here… But these are my honest feelings that went through my mind when I first met them!

I even had the opportunity to chat to Karen Mok for a while in the Museum and found out the boots that she was wearing was sort of “invented” by her as she gave the designer in Ferragamo the idea! Smart and creative lass!

Oh BTW it’s not easy to look glam on a cold cold 6 degree windy night by the habour on the red carpet! Notice how everyone around us were wrapped up while we braved the cold in our spring/summer outfits! 🙂

A picture says a thousand words so enjoy the pics and spot the stars!

XOXO
Jess

Attended the opening ceremony where Zhang Ziyi & Tony Leung opened the show. They were waiting with us in the same waiting area before the whole ceremony begun.

We talked to the Chief Executive of Ferragamo Mr Ferruccio Ferragamo and met his young son as well! Really nice and hospitable family…

I’m all garbed up in Ferragamo wear waiting to set off while Fann & Christopher are getting ready at this very moment! 🙂

So, as I’m waiting… I decided to admire the view from the 55th floor and take some photos!

That’s me in my room in my cute outfit! I can’t wait to see shoes that used to be worn by Greta Garbo, the legendary Marilyn Monroe and Andy Warhol! Ferragamo is really an iconic brand and being able to see all their works since 1928 is a blessing for me! Never did I imagine that I can be present at such a grandeur event!

Keeping U posted!

Love from Shanghai!

My Daily Make Up Regime

I’ve been getting lotsa quizzes about my make up regime! Well, to be honest… I used to be the laziest or most “bo chup” person taking care of her skin! During my university days, was my very first time experimenting with make up and I have to say I wasn’t the most skillful girl around. I look back at my photos and cringe! Though I was putting on make up then, I wasn’t removing it after! I didn’t know the existence of make up remover then and only used regular face wash like Neutrogena or Biore or Ponds to remove the gunk on my face! And little did I know that wasn’t sufficient to totally dissolve the make up away… No wonder my skin became so bad!!! Also, I never used moisturiser nor eye cream nor toner then! So it was bare face, pounding on make up, and not removing it! Horror of horrors!!! (I bet U don’t or cannot believe this but it’s true!) I’m such a clueless girl back then!

It was only after joining SQ and going thru those grooming sessions that I was taught the importance or removing make up, having a good skincare regime. Thereafter, my skin cleared up and all my friends asked me what did I do to help my skin. My simple reply was “use a suitable moisturiser!” When I was still flying, I swore by Clinique Moisture Surge. That was the one that agreed with my skin, kept it hydrated during flights in the dry cabin air and yet feel lightweight on the skin!

However, now in Singapore’s humid weather, I prefer using YSL’s White Mode Day Imulsion as it’s less sticky after applying it and easily absorbs into the skin. Also, I love the whitening effect it has helping me remove any uneven skin tone on my face and neck.

So my daily skincare regime is:

  1. Wash my face when I wake up (this one I use almost any kind of facial wash for normal/combination skin)
  2. Use Shiseido White Lucent Brightening Refining Softener as a toner
  3. Apply a layer of YSL White Mode Whitening Essense
  4. Moisturise with YSL White Mode Day Imulsion
  5. Protect my skin with YSL White Mode Sunscreen (this one is a must!!! The sun ages your skin faster so sunblock is utmost important)

Make Up:

I like Ettusais Liquid Foundation as it’s oil-free, light and provides enough coverage without looking like you have foundation on.

My must haves:

  • False eyelashes are an easy way to brighten up and make eyes look a lot bigger

To apply them

  1. line your eyes with a liquid/pencil eyeliner (optional) – I like Maybelline’s liquid eyeliner as it’s cheap and good! I really love the felt tip applicator that makes lining eyes a lot easier
  2. curl your natural lashes first and use one thin coat of mascara to keep lashes curled – Shiseido or Shu Uemara eyelash curlers are great with Asian eyes
  3. Trim false lashes to the length of your lash line
  4. Use a lash applicator (this can be bought in any SASA outlet) to clip the false lashes
  5. Apply a thin layer of lash glue on the spine
  6. carefully set the false lashes as close to your lash line as possible
  7. Wait till glue is dry, then use curler to blend lashes together by gently curling natural and false lashes together.
  • Naturally drawn eyebrows – I like Shu Uemara Eyebrow Pencil Hard Formula in Seal Brown
  • Blusher – My favorite is YSL Touche Blush in No. 1
  • Under Eye Circle cover up – YSL Touche Eclat or Radiant Touch

Hope this insight of myself will help others out there not make the same mistake as I did back in university! I’m sure lots of girls now are better educated in the make up department! 😉

Hope U like my tips!

XOXO
Jessica
