Hello!

Just got back from a Style Weddings photo shoot with Nat – yes we’re a “couple” this upcoming issue! This time, Club Med invited us down to do the shoot in their wonderful revamped resort in Bali! This is my very first time in a Club Med and the experience is so different, unique and welcoming! We were first given a really warm greeting at the airport by Club Med’s only Singaporean G.O – Gazo, and the minute we arrived at the resort, we were welcomed with locals playing Balinese music and draped with orchids over our shoulders!

Club Med Bali is BEAUTIFUL!!!! When you’re in Club Med, U feel really special and belong to this Club Med family. Everyone in Club Med greets each other and I mean everyone… including the guests! And I didn’t know that all food, drinks, activities was provided unlike other resorts where U pay for your lodging only and everything else is additional. So, this is a total different experience. They even have a trapeze within the compound! but I didn’t have time to try that out. 😦 But I did go windsurfing and kayaking with Nat when we had the time. There was a personal windsurfing instructor – Utah – a Japanese windsurfer who was a patient teacher. And I must say, windsurfing is NOT easy but really fun! I managed to catch the wind and travel pretty fast but I didn’t know how to stop or change direction fluid enough so I just dropped the sail. And many times I fell into the water! 😛 Also, I managed to squeeze in a yoga session with Steve and got a good workout.

Club Med7.JPGWhen we were at Club Med, it was also during their media launch of the re-opening ceremony of the Bali resort as they’ve just renovated the place. So, all 6 of us was also given a complimentary excursion to either go cycling at Mt Agung or white water rafting at Ayung River. And we all chose white water rafting! Sooooo exciting! It’s my very 1st time going for white water rafting and I really encourage everyone to try it at least once cos it’s soooooooooo FUN! Initially it was quite scary as we weren’t used to the fast flowing and choppy waters. and sometimes the raft drops a little which made my heart drop too! But after a while when I got used to the raft and found my balance it was so enjoyable, scenic and helluva fun. Towards the end we were even confident enough to race each other’s rafts to overtake and be ahead of the other! *haha* (there’s only 4 to a raft so we were split up)

We also went shopping at Kuta and had a meal at Jimbaran. Oh and Steve brought us to this place called Made Warung where the Indonesian food there is lovely but my favourite there is still the Chocolate Lemon Cheesecake… it’s simply yummilicious!

Though the weather there was a bit cranky with flash storms and major blackouts at Kuta area, we had a great time and wished we could stay there a lot longer. But the good thing is that this makes U yearn to go back there again… Too much of somethign good is not good.

Here’s some photos from my cam so enjoy! I’ll upload more when I get the rest of the photos from the rest of them.

XOXO
Jessica

Club Med13.JPGSquirrels come to our buffet restaurant daily to be fed by the guests, and we fed them too! They’re super cute and not afriad of humans. I even fed them by hand. Got this fluke shot of this MALE squirrel running away cos Nat exclaimed and scared the squirrel. I actually had a nicer shot of it… believe me….

When Night Fa11s

These are some of the film stills from the short film I just shot with hunky Desmond Tan – When Night Fa11s by Derrick Lui.

The shooting process was a real experience I will never forget! And the whole cast & crew bonded like a family! The most challenging part of this film was that it was shot without any dialogue so it really depended on us drawing our inner emotions and expressing it through our facial and body language. Crying without any speech and just gazing at an object sure isn’t easy! Thank you everyone in the team for making this such a great work experience!

My good friend whom I made during our Ms Universe pageant in Mexico, Agni, came to Singapore with her superstar bf Junot in December! How I missed her and all the good gal pals I made during our month in Mexico… Not all the girls there were manipulative, competitive and all out to impress & win! There were some genuine beauties there. 🙂 And one of them was Ms Indonesia!

In her few days in Singapore, I brought her around to try out our yummy local food like Bak Kut Teh, Chicken Rice, Carrot Cake, Popiah, Laksa, Ba Chor Mee, Ice kachang and I didn’t know our Barley and Bandung drinks aren’t found in Indonesia! We had a real feast when she was here.

Also, we sat our Singapore Flyer! And the view from the flyer was spectacular!

Here’s some pics!

Missing you…

Hello everyone!

My apologies for “disappearing” for some time. The month of Nov was one that I will never forget. It was so busy because my dad was admitted into hospital due to a massive heart attack which was something my family never expected. And my dad was recently called back to Heaven after a few weeks of staying strong and spending a lot of quality time with us. On top of that, I had filming and shoots to go to, so every single time I had I was by my dad’s side in hospital.

This is the first time I’ve ever seen my dad in hospital and I never expected it to be the last. It was a real shock for me to see him like that because he’s always been a strong man and full of zest in life. He always had a fire in him which made him the way he was. I must admit that the relationship with my dad was never the close kind where we would hug or say “I love U” to, but we would show each other our love in our own way. He was always protective over me as I’m his only daughter and made sure I ate, he would want to drive me around when I had to go somewhere even though I wanted to be independent and do it myself, he would call me when he’s overseas with my mum to ask if I’d want anything or ask when I’m free to go out for a family meal. He’s the best dad I could ever ask for. He supported all my decisions even though he might not approve of it i.e. joining SIA as a stewardess, joining Miss Singapore Universe, acting… guess he wanted me to be a doctor or lawyer but I wanted to follow my passions. I guess I’ve always wanted my dad to be proud of me in my own way and I was so excited that my very 1st 8 days cover was coming out on Monday and was telling my dad about it last week when he was discharged from hospital. But my dad never got to see it…

I still remember those days when my brothers and I were all still in school and every Saturday was a family outing where we would go somewhere nice to eat, shop in Supermarkets, drive to JB and just hung out as a family. My dad had always wanted to provide the best quality of living for us, especially his children. No matter how hard times were or how difficult it is to obtain something my dad would try his best to get the things we wanted growing up. That was why since young, I never told my parents what I really wanted. Even though I like My Lil Ponies or Care Bears, I never asked them to buy it for me cos I somehow knew that it’s not easy spending on your kids. There was a lot of things i liked and wanted when I was younger but I hardly voiced them out even till now. I really wanted to go for the foreign exchange programme in NUS but never applied for it because I knew it will be a huge financial burden for my parents and my parents were not earning a lot then. Because when my elder brother went in his year my mum told me how much they had to spend to send him for the exchange programme and how they had to get money for it so that my brother could go. That’s how much my dad loves us.

And I guess my love for pink has been instilled in by my dad. Being the traditional parent where girls must like pink and boys must like blue, my whole bedroom was pink from the walls to the bed to the cupboards. And up till today I still love the colour and always will. There’s so many things that I can pen down what I will miss about Dad and everything brings a tear to my eye.

I really want to say sorry to my dad that I was not able to say goodbye when he passed on, I arrived too late, I guess U were holding on for me because when I reached by your side, you left us that very minute. I’m sorry that I’m only saying I love U to you now when you’re in Heaven. We will take good care of Mum and I will promise you that we will be a closer family again. It is only now that I realise how fragile Life is and how we always take things for granted. Thank you daddy for bringing all of us up and loving us the way U did.You will always be in our hearts…

Missing you always,
Jessica
