Short Film – Fade In

Hello!

Last December I did another short film for Director Derrick Lui from Vogue Films. He was the same director that came out with the script-less short film When Night Fa11s which won an award of merit in Milan – the only Asian film that was awarded! The music video also won awards too, using images from When Night Fa11s.

Watch it here: http://vimeo.com/m/#/11798161

This time, the short film is scripted. Written by British writer Lawrence Gray. And it is a monologue! My very first monologue… And my nameless character is a social escort feeling drained and tired and wondering if she could have done something better with her life. Interesting character. Derrick felt that this short film was a bit like a sequel to When Night Fa11s whereby Weiwei grows up and is out on a vengeance to play with the feelings of men after being hurt by Eternity.

This is the preview of what is to come from the short film. Can’t wait to view the finished product by Derrick – the longer version.

Hello hello!

Finally I can blog again!!! The stupid WordPress App on my iPhone has been crashing for 2 months and I’ve been unable to blog! The latest update released today finally fixed the crashes… Phew…

Just an update on what I’ve been doing… I was filming Tale of Two Cities (small role), two short films – My Mother’s Song & Fade In, & picked up a new sport! Wakeboarding!!!! Currently I’m involved in 2 episodes of C.L.I.F. as one of the cases – though only 2 episodes, I find my character really interesting & I’m really looking forward to this role.

Anyway back to wakeboarding… It’s a real good workout! Though I’ve not been able to continue learning this new sport since 3 Jan as I’m down with a really bad cough since. Having my very first face plant on my 1st time wakeboarding was not really fun & extremely painful! Can u imagine if I had a nose implant I would probably come out of the water crooked! Lol!

The 2nd trip wakeboarding was a lot less painful as I learnt the art of falling. So far, I’m still a Newbie to this & I’m waiting for my cough to recover before I plan more sessions!

Last week, was pamper myself week. I decided to give myself the full indulgence, from going for facial, visiting the spa for a good 5 hours and giving my hair the all needed treatment.

On spa day, I checked myself into Auriga at 9:30am for my 3 hour Auriga’s signature Waning Moon treatment scheduled at 10am. The waning moon treatment is a full body cleansing treatment that starts with some detoxification supplements taken orally to cleanse the body inside. The body pampering then begins with a foot massage using essential oils, going on to a full body exfoliation using organic and natural products like pomegranate seeds mixed with lime skin. After a good scrub, my body was then treated to a seaweed wrap releasing toxins from the inner organs. During the wrap, the therapist started giving a well welcomed head massage using oils that will help treat my scalp and hair at the same time, she then proceeded to giving me a facial massage using organic serum and moisturizer. After 20-30 minutes, I showered off the wrap and the therapist continued my indulgence by using silk garshana gloves to gently exfoliate my body, creating heat deep within the muscles and smoothing the body. She then began the lymphatic massage which put me into a very deep sleep. My sleep was deepened by the heated massage table that made me so relaxed and snuggled all over.

When my 3 hours was up, I was hoping it was just a dream and it could start over again! I was then escorted to a special relaxation room to rest (more like recover from dreamland) on physioacoustic therapy beds. (these beds are apparently the exact same beds that F1 racers use before and after a race to relax their stressed out muscles) In the room, I was sipping fresh herbal tea and snacking on dried apricots while enjoying the nice bamboo garden outside.

Now, time to pamper myself further with the wet facilities. I first went into the hot rainforest shower with floral scents while water is pouring down onto you, then I headed into the herbal steam room. In between using the steam room, I went out and massaged myself with crushed ice provided in a chilled bowl. Apparently, by doing so, your skin will become firmer and it will get rid of cellulite! Did that a couple of times, steam, ice, steam, ice, steam, cold mist shower with refreshing peppermint and orange oils! Sat on the hot stone for a while to take a break then I decided to try out the heated jacuzzi. It was shiok!!!

The best thing was the bathroom was totally empty and I could use everything as long as I wanted as much as I wanted. An hour or so later, I was very happy and satisfied, so I showered and got ready to leave.

Went out to pay the bill. My damage was $494.34! Back to reality…

Pampering never comes without a cost.

My Kimchi Recipe

Hi all!

By special requests, I’m including my recipe to make kimchi! All thanks to Berinda’s mum who taught me the art of making kimchi.

Ingredients required

Chilli Paste :
4-5 shallots of small Asian onions (peeled)
1 bulb (7-8 cloves) of garlic (peeled)
1 inch of fresh Ginger
10-12 fresh whole chillies
2 cups of chilli pepper flakes
Spring onions, cut up in lengths of 2 inches
1 packet of roasted sesame seeds
Sugar to taste (3-5 tablespoons)

Pickled cabbage:
Salt
3 medium sized Wom Bok cabbage
1 radish (optional) cut up in cubes

To drain the water and start the fermentation of the vegetables, coat every leaf of the cabbage with a layer of salt and soak the cabbage in a little cold water. Coat the radish cubes with a layer of salt as well in a separate bowl and set both aside for 2-3 hours. Turning the vegetables every hour or so.

Rinse the salt off the vegetables after it has rested and water is drained out. Vegetables should be soft and limp.

To make the chilli paste, combine garlic, shallots of onions, ginger, fresh chillies in a food processor and blend till a paste. Hand stir in chilli flakes, sesame seeds, spring onions and sugar. The paste should smell like chicken rice garlic chilli.

Put on rubber gloves and use your hands to coat every leaf of the cabbage and every cube of radish with the chilli paste generously. Once all the vegetables are nicely coated with chilli paste, divde them into glass jars and set aside in room temperature for 1-2 days to allow it to ferment and then store it in the refrigerator.

Kimchi can be eaten freshly made or very fermented.

Enjoy your homemade kimchi!

My first time Prawning

Hello!

My friends and I decided to go prawning in Bishan one day & I decided to try it since I’ve never done it before! I must concur that it looks easy but it’s not! There’s actually a technique to hook up the prawns.

That night I only caught 1 measly prawn and I let a lot get away as I didn’t know how to “hook” them when they were nibbling on my bait. I’m not a naturally talented fisherwoman…

I’m happy with my lone catch though! And the biggest plus point for me that night was there were plenty of cats & dogs at the prawning village for me to play with!

Better luck next time! LOL…

Last week I went to the Fullerton Presidential Suite to attend a lovely evening of canapé & champagne. I’ve never been in any presidential suites before and this experience was great to step into one of Singapore’s most exclusive ones!

Every guest at the event had the privilege to have their very own instant photoshoot donning the exquisite cape from Chloe flown in from Paris just for the event. It was real fun being thrown into a “studio” created at the suite’s balcony. And I simply love how my picture turned out, very film noir. And every photo taken was put up on a photo wall for the judges to vote their favourite photo that depicts the fragrance’s ideal of love & romance. Congratulations to Jasmine on winning $1000 voucher!

Here’s some photos taken from the night. Enjoy!

Last Sunday some friends and I went to MacRitchie to visit the remains of the Japanese Shinto Temple that was constructed during the Japanese Occupation in Singapore. This temple was later bombed up by the Japanese when they had to leave Singapore. So what is left in the middle of MacRitchie rainforest today is not much but some small structures.

The hike to this site is pretty challenging as there is no proper pathway and you have to literally bash your way through the trees and rotten logs filled with numerous leaf litter communities, crouching under fallen trees, climbing over big logs and avoiding a lot of thorny plants. A pretty fun way to start your Sunday morning I must say!

Oh and a very BIG thank you to Sunny, our nature guide, to lead the way and show us so many interesting edible plants in the forest! We tried 2 different kinds of Betel leaves that taste exactly like a hotdog! (unbelievable I know!) and some plants that are used to build thatched roof in kampongs.

Here’s some pictures to tell you the story of my Sunday adventure!

Just got back from a great dive trip in Bali! Visited the USS Liberty Wreck, Crystal Bay for the Molas & Manta Point for the graceful Mantas. Didn’t take any underwater photos this time as I purely wanted to enjoy the sights of the elusive Molas. The molas are simply amazing & beautiful, and such strange looking fish! And i’m so happy we were so fortunate to see so many of them underwater looking back at us!

More photos of us having fun around Bali will be posted up soon once it’s edited!
