This Saturday will be the pilot episode of Channel News Asia’s breakthrough info-drama series
with informational elements on Chinese herbs and Traditional Chinese
Medicine.

This is the project that I’ve been working on lately. Though my role is small but every little bit of experience counts! I hope my performance will be up to standards!

Wish me luck!!!

I’ve been getting lotsa quizzes about my make up regime! Well, to be honest… I used to be the laziest or most “bo chup” person taking care of her skin! During my university days, was my very first time experimenting with make up and I have to say I wasn’t the most skillful girl around. I look back at my photos and cringe! Though I was putting on make up then, I wasn’t removing it after! I didn’t know the existence of make up remover then and only used regular face wash like Neutrogena or Biore or Ponds to remove the gunk on my face! And little did I know that wasn’t sufficient to totally dissolve the make up away… No wonder my skin became so bad!!! Also, I never used moisturiser nor eye cream nor toner then! So it was bare face, pounding on make up, and not removing it! Horror of horrors!!! (I bet U don’t or cannot believe this but it’s true!) I’m such a clueless girl back then!

It was only after joining SQ and going thru those grooming sessions that I was taught the importance or removing make up, having a good skincare regime. Thereafter, my skin cleared up and all my friends asked me what did I do to help my skin. My simple reply was “use a suitable moisturiser!” When I was still flying, I swore by Clinique Moisture Surge. That was the one that agreed with my skin, kept it hydrated during flights in the dry cabin air and yet feel lightweight on the skin!

However, now in Singapore’s humid weather, I prefer using YSL’s White Mode Day Imulsion as it’s less sticky after applying it and easily absorbs into the skin. Also, I love the whitening effect it has helping me remove any uneven skin tone on my face and neck.

So my daily skincare regime is:

  1. Wash my face when I wake up (this one I use almost any kind of facial wash for normal/combination skin)
  2. Use Shiseido White Lucent Brightening Refining Softener as a toner
  3. Apply a layer of YSL White Mode Whitening Essense
  4. Moisturise with YSL White Mode Day Imulsion
  5. Protect my skin with YSL White Mode Sunscreen (this one is a must!!! The sun ages your skin faster so sunblock is utmost important)

Make Up:

I like Ettusais Liquid Foundation as it’s oil-free, light and provides enough coverage without looking like you have foundation on.

My must haves:

  • False eyelashes are an easy way to brighten up and make eyes look a lot bigger

To apply them

  1. line your eyes with a liquid/pencil eyeliner (optional) – I like Maybelline’s liquid eyeliner as it’s cheap and good! I really love the felt tip applicator that makes lining eyes a lot easier
  2. curl your natural lashes first and use one thin coat of mascara to keep lashes curled – Shiseido or Shu Uemara eyelash curlers are great with Asian eyes
  3. Trim false lashes to the length of your lash line
  4. Use a lash applicator (this can be bought in any SASA outlet) to clip the false lashes
  5. Apply a thin layer of lash glue on the spine
  6. carefully set the false lashes as close to your lash line as possible
  7. Wait till glue is dry, then use curler to blend lashes together by gently curling natural and false lashes together.
  • Naturally drawn eyebrows – I like Shu Uemara Eyebrow Pencil Hard Formula in Seal Brown
  • Blusher – My favorite is YSL Touche Blush in No. 1
  • Under Eye Circle cover up – YSL Touche Eclat or Radiant Touch

Hope this insight of myself will help others out there not make the same mistake as I did back in university! I’m sure lots of girls now are better educated in the make up department! 😉

Hope U like my tips!

Anger…

I’d like to believe that my life is totally perfect with everything going the way I want it to. But it isn’t. It has many ups and downs and lately a lot more downs in my family life. If this is an indication of how it is going to be for the next one year ahead it is sure gonna be a tough time trying to make things work.

Many a times, someone in your family just knows how to piss the hell outta you and all you wanna do is to punch them, say nasties or just wished they weren’t a part of your life in that fit of a moment. (C’mon admit it, everyone’s human and will think such thoughts even though U never/rarely act on them!) But after U cool down (that is if the person doesn’t instigate you to be even more furious), U realize that no matter what happens, or what you fight about, U just can’t live with or without that stupid someone.

Sometimes I just wish I can be invisible when I’m furious and everyone just leaves me alone. (Trust me I don’t need anger management classes because I rarely flare up) Somehow, family just knows how to pacify you and torment you equally. Parents nag not only to show concern and love and it also comes with age. We usually find nagging tormenting… (don’t you really? I can’t be the only soul that feels this way) But some nagging is good. if my parents stopped nagging at me one day I would find it unusual and feel uncomfortable. We humans are really hard to satisfy. It’s a love-hate relationship with everything we do!

Just wanted to rant here to release some tension in my bones cos sometimes everyone around U just can’t seem to understand you! I just needed an avenue to complain… thanks for listening!

Miso Glazed Salmon

Cooked dinner at home today and on the menu is Miso Glazed Salmon!

Simple and delicious meal to cook at home!

Ingredients (for 4 pax)

2 TB of miso paste – can easily obtain this in most supermarkets
2 TB of light soya sauce
2 TB of hot water
1/4 cup of brown sugar

Mix these together in a cup/bowl until all is throughly mixed and dissolved. Set aside.

Place salmon fillets in a lightly oiled rectangular baking tin/dish.

Spoon miso mixture over the salmon and ensure it’s evenly spread.

Grill it in the oven at 220 degrees Celsius for about 10 minutes or until salmon is slightly flaky.

Wah lah!!!

FHM Thailand

Ms Thailand, Farung (*muacks*), just sms-ed me to tell me that I’m in
this month’s Thai FHM! Shucks… just came back from that place and
could’ve gotten a copy of it!

FHM Thailand website

What a surprise! I never expected to be featured in the Thai edition at all! Not only I’m in the 2008 FHM calender for the Singapore edition, I’m in Thailand!!

Hahah…

A pleasant surprise indeed!

Went to watch Beauty World because I heard so much about it and a friend of mine was trying to arrange a group gathering for us to watch it together. However, our time tables clashed so we decided to watch it on our own.

No regrets watching this wonderful musical at all! it was hilarious, entertaining, heart warming, a musical where every Singaporean can relate to with its occasional Singaporean-Cantonese dialogue. I recall laughing till tears rolled down my cheeks during the climax. My praise to Elena Wang & Dwayne Tan & Irene Ang as their acting is extremely good and singing voices so melodic to listen to. 3 hours of the show went on effortlessly and not one minute went by making me feel bored or restless. At the end of the show I wished it could continue on but guess that’s the best way to end it – leaving you wanting for more!

I simply loved it!

Next to watch on my list… Dim Sum Dollies!

Just came back from my Bangkok trip! Went there to visit my good friend Ms Thailand Farung! Missed her so so much… we had such great fun together back in Mexico. Such a nice feeling meeting her after such a long time – nearly 8/9 months.

To my surprise, she came and welcomed me together with the Miss Thailand Universe fan club! Lotsa them took time off to come meet me for dinner… How sweet of them! Felt like we were back in Mexico where people took photos of us being ourselves and developed photographs for us to sign. 🙂

They brought us to a very nice seafood restaurant in Bangkok called Somboon (apparently very famous) and the seafood was yummy and very cheap! curry crab for only SGD10! Anyone visiting Bangkok has to drop by that place for a meal cos it’s great food, great service and very affordable pricing!

I did the usual shop and eat-a-lot in Bangkok, feasting on my favorite Thai spicy mango salad and mango sticky rice dessert almost every meal! heeheee…. I even “ta pao” mango sticky rice home cos I love it so much!

In my few nights stay in Bangkok, we took a trip down to the floating market to visit this interesting place. The longboat ride down the narrow canal sure was interesting! Sometimes it really felt it was going to capsize when the boatman sped up! (due to the imbalance of weight distribution in the boat)

Well, pictures tell a thousand words so enjoy!!!

Also, we met Pranum on the day we were departing for Singapore for a nice lunch! Pranum is the Thai supervisor that followed Farung all the way to Mexico to be her supervisor. She was also a supervisor for the Ms Thailand Universe pageant every year. A very nice lady but also experienced in taking care and handling pageant girls every year for the Miss Universe pageant. Pranum is one lady I really admire because she not only juggles her own company providing grooming and etiquette courses to girls, she knows how to speak English, Thai and German fluently, and participates in the Ms Universe pageant every year as a supervisor. Wonderful lady! She took care of me too even though it was sometimes not really her job to do so… 🙂

It’s so nice catching up with old friends and meeting new ones in this trip! One of the nicer holidays taken!

I’ll be in a supporting role for Channel News Asia’s Drama series. Filming will start next week so I’m now busy preparing for my role. Even tho it’s not a lead/major role I want to be well prepared and put in my best effort for it! Plus, I’ve never really had any professional acting classes so I must definitely practice more before I go in front of the camera. Hope that will cover up for my lack of experience!

It’s fun taking on new roles and I’m lucky to be given such opportunities. Great way to kick start the new year and hopefully this is a sign that there will be more good things to come.

Earlier today I met up with my long lost friend of many years for Dim Sum lunch. She’s my junior from SCGS and now she’s a happy mother! This girlfriend of mine was my “daughter” in school (U know how when we were in secondary school we would start this long family line among classmates and friends just for fun) and now she has a daughter of her own! (I hope that doesn’t make me grandma!!! Luckily we no longer play this kinda things now) How time flies and we all start growing up and start families! Somehow I feel myself surrounded by babies! There must be some baby boom happening or maybe it just so happen that everyone around me that I know are just procreating!

Presenting Baby Ally!!! Together with the Mr Bean’s Bear I got her!

Arena Magazine Shoot

Went to see my god daughter again last night and she’s growing real fast!!! Hee… Baby Leeann’s sooo cute!

Anyway, I had a shoot this afternoon for ARENA Magazine – it’s a Men’s style magazine something like Female/Her World for men – I must say I love the photographer as he has the eye to take great shots!

The shoot was sensuous yet tasteful. Can’t wait to see the pictures when they come out in 3 weeks! I think that’s around the time I come back from my trip to Bangkok. I’ve never posed like that before – upside down, on the floor, twisted body etc. Great experience and lotsa fun! It also helped that I’ve worked with stylist Debra Wong and the photographer before which puts me at ease. And the make up artist Tinoq Russell is hilarious exactly like Grego! So it was great fun!

Shoot was done faster than expected. Managed to get all the shots within 3 hours which includes hair/make up. Fastest shoot ever!

Oh, but sad thing that happened today was I grazed my car bumper cos I was stuck in a very tight 3 point turn in a single lane space cos I was in between one lorry and one Toyota Wish (which parked out of his lot) and had to change my car’s angle between those 2 cars! So a little of my car’s bumper paintwork came off but no dent cos there was no force other than slow and cm by cm reversing! *sigh* *heart pain* This happened at the shoot’s location along River Valley Rd (Beside Mobil Station) where all those old shop houses are located which have few n far between lots!

In general I had a great day minus that scratch on my car…. 😦

XOXO,
Jessica
