Mika Loves Addiction!

I’ve been trying so hard to look for THE canned dog food that Mika will love. Tried so many brands for my sweetie but she seems to get sick if it after 2 days and the rest of the can has to be given added treats like cheese, fresh meat, dehydrated chicken etc for her to want to eat it!

This week, I opened a brand new can of “Black Forest Rabbit & Blueberries” from Addiction and she simply loves it! The whole can of food is finished by her willingly without coaxing & she looks forward to meal times. Not only that rabbit meat is lower in calories which us healthier & its grain free formula has blueberries! I love blueberries & so does my Mika! Rich in anti-oxidants good for my doggie…

If you have a picky eater, maybe you should try Addiction?

Attended the Pantene Beauty Round Table this morning over a nice luncheon at Stellar@1-Altitude to talk about hair care & how to improve our hair texture.

I took up the Pantene 14-Day Challenge and started using the Hairfall Range. Yes, the word “Hairfall” is such a sensitive word to us girls! But I have to admit that ever since I entered the entertainment industry on top of my frequent scuba diving, I realized how much more hair I have been dropping. 😦 initially I thought it was hair loss but then I realized it’s due to hair breakage from really dry and damaged hair. After talking to Dr Jasmine Karsono, I learnt so many useful things about hair. Styling, blow-drying, back-combing are all well known factors to damaged hair. But Dr Karsono told me that salt water is even worse! As salt dehydrates the hair a lot more on top of the prolonged UV exposure which makes hair so much more brittle and prone to breakage. No wonder I get so depressed looking at the amount of hair I drop washing my hair after scuba diving! And the many days after.

So…. I used the Hairfall range and I’m still using it as I really love the effects that it has on my hair texture. I used to wake up with really tangled and unruly hair spending quite some time brushing my hair. But after the 7th day of using Pantene’s Hairfall range, I found brushing my hair in the mornings so much easier and less hair is found on my brush. On top of that I too changed to a new Protection brush by Acca Kappa which helped with the brushing through my tangles. My hair now is a lot more shiny especially on the crown of my head and texture is slowly improving. I can’t wait for my hair to feel baby soft again!

Now I am a big fan of Pantene’s Hairfall range! And to all of you out there suffering from easy hair breakage like me, please go to your nearest supermarket of pharmacy to grab the Hairfall range and take up this 14-day challenge! (TIP: if your hair is really dry n weak, use the treatment in place of the conditioner – that’s what I’m doing!)

Walking along the heart of Orchard Road with a girl pal in one arm & tons of shopping bags in your other. Credit card – check, fashionable shopping clothes – check, comfortable shoes – check. All ready for the Great Singaore Sale!

Shooting this was real fun! As people were walking by, stopping, staring, talking on their phones, getting out of the way, pointing to their kids what’s going on. Really interesting to people watch while working. Our challenge was to find an empty enough time slot along the corridors of Paragon & quickly walk to get the shot done! Making sure everyone else was behind us not in front of the camera.

This was was fun, the other shot was more challenging! Now, we needed to find an even quieter spot in Orchard Road with a nice clean wall for us to do the walking, then skipping shot like in season 15 of America’s Next Top Model. Swinging shopping bags, snapping your neck, looking at the right angle, and making sure both feet are off the ground in the photo, not forgetting ensuring a stable landing in high heels!

One of my favorite shoots to date!

Had a shoot with Benson Goh – a very talented & friendly photographer who was really easy to work with. I guess we simply hit it off the first time we met! Chatting about things that interests us GE etc etc which made shooting with him seem so casual like we were old friends.

Fun & quick shoot. But I must say, he did come up with some brilliant photos! Can’t wait to work with him again hopefully to do something more arty like say Dolls? *lol*

Here’s some pics which he emailed to share with me – Thank You!!!

XOXO

Hello Peeps!

Today’s Mika’s puppy day! 8 February. Time really flies and in a blink on an eye she is 3 (or 21 in doggie years). Little adult doggie refusing to grow up!

For her birthday treat, I made her her favourite Peanut Butter & Carrot cake & my take on doggie Italian Meatballs just for her! (Disclaimer: all the above food is made for special doggies with doggie specific recipes)

For her birthday cake recipe (really simple!) here it is for all those who wanna bake a treat just for their paw friends.

1 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/3 cup peanut butter (preferable organic)
1 cup shredded carrots
1/4 cup sunflower oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/3 cup honey

1. Whisk the flour & baking soda together until evenly mixed
2. Put in the rest of the ingredients into the electric mixer
3. Mix well
4. Place dough into a 6 inch baking tin – well oiled & lined.
5. Bake at 180 degrees celsius for 30 minutes
6. Icing – cream cheese & peanut butter

Mika’s Italian Meatballs
100g of minced pork
1 heaped tablespoon of Parmesan cheese
2 teaspoons of mixed Italian herbs
A pinch of pepper
1/2 cup of shredded carrots

1. Put all the ingredients into a bowl & mix well with a fork
2. Roll the mixture into 1 inch meatballs
3. Pan-fry the meatballs quickly till outside is lightly browned
4. Place the meatballs in the oven at 180 degrees Celsius for 10minutes until meatballs are cooked through.

Happy Rabbit year to all of u! I’m sure Mika is having a happy start & hope you are too!!!

I googled & found this recipe on the Internet & decided to try it out last Christmas. It’s simple & turned out a great hit with my family members! The freshly baked cookies were gone from the plate real fast!

All you need is:

2 cups of Flour
1/4 teaspoon of salt (omit this if u r using salted butter)
1 block of unsalted butter
1/2 cup of icing sugar
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract ( use a pure one if possible not Essence)

Steps:
1. Beat butter & icing sugar in a mixer until smooth
2. Add vanilla extract. Mix well
3. Sift in flour & salt. Fold in until evenly mixed
4. Roll the dough into a disk shape and wrap it up with cling wrap. Leave it in the fridge to chill and harden up for at least an hour.
5. Pre heat oven to 180 degrees celsius.
6. Roll out the dough to even thickness of 1/4 inch & cut out cookies with a cookie cutter.
7. Place cookies on a baking sheet and chill it in the fridge again for 15 minutes so that it will not spread out while baking.
8. Bake for 10-12 minutes until lightly browned

Try out this simple recipe if u are looking to start with something easy!

Hello hello!

Visited DB Bistro by Daniel Boulud in Marina Bay Sands, one of the celebrity chef restaurants that is in Singapore! Was really excited to eat in his restaurant as I’m a Top Chef fan and heard so much about him through the reality series. His French-American style restaurant offers nice eats at an affordable price. If I remember correctly, the most expensive item on the menu was a Black Truffle crusted Dory ($45) which is ok for a main course.

The food there is good, but it can be better to hit my excellent restaurant list. Guess I expected more being a Daniel Boulud restaurant. But I must say, the desserts there are excellent! Especially the Sundae I had! Yummy! I would definitely go back for desserts!

For starters, there was
Tuna Tartare ($26) – yummy & I would have it again.
Foie Gras Terrine ($28) – this was so so, tasted like expensive pate.

Mains:
Black Truffle Crusted Dory ($45) – it was not bad, the mash was delicious, would probably try something else next time.
DB Burger ($38) – house speciality of a burger patty stuffed with short ribs & a juicy piece of Foie Gras. This I would definitely order again!

Desserts:
Poached Pear – not bad for a ‘healthy’ sounding dessert
Baileys ice-cream Sundae – as I mentioned before this is super yummy with cookie bits & melt in your mouth milk gelee. Mmmmmm….
Mango ice-cream – the ice-creams here are homemade & fantastic!

Dinner was satisfying & I would definitely return to try the other items on the menu!

XOXO
Jessica
