Hello peeps!

THEFACESHOP Singapore has recently released these new bath and body items from their Nature Collection by BEYOND.

Nature Collection is an extension of THEFACESHOP group that hosts multiple brands in their K-beauty products concept store. This chain of stores offers a curation of the best Korean beauty products that will suit all your different lifestyle and beauty needs.

Today I will review shower gels, shampoo & conditioner by BEYOND. BEYOND is a brand that formulates all their products with eco ingredients grown on lands unpolluted by chemical fertilisers and/or pesticides. Products from BEYOND contains Eco Farming Complex ingredients that help soothe and moisturise skin. All their products are dermatologically tested and does not conduct animal testing. Furthermore, these eco-beauty products contains minimum colorants and fragrances, keeping their formulations as pure and natural as possible.

I got their Summer kit to test out BEYOND’s products. The kit consists of the best body shower collection which is 4 x 60ml bottles of 4 of their favorite shower foams namely – Deep Moisture Olive, Total Recovery, Revital & Deep Moisture. Also inside the kit is BEYOND’s Professional Defence Shampoo & Conditioner.

Professional Defence Shampoo & Conditioner

(450ml, SGD$39.90 each)

I’m currently using the shampoo and conditioner daily and I must say I’m in love with how my hair smells after each wash! Even after a long day and an evening sweaty run in this summer humidity, my hair still smells great! I love clear shampoos as that’s an indicator to me that it deep cleanses my scalp without clogging the pores and cause hair-loss. This is true for the Professional Defence Shampoo, as after washing my hair, I feel that it cleanly eliminates any sebum and pollutants on my scalp which will then encourage healthy hair growth.

I follow it up with the Professional Defence Conditioner. Though the texture of the conditioner isn’t as rich as what I usually use for my dry hair (it’s dry from the constant exposure to the intense sun during Summer), it absorbs into my hair and moisturises it sufficiently. My way of judging whether the conditioner works for my dry hair or not is the “wet hair comb through” test. Like I mentioned, my hair tends to be on the dry side, so I always have difficulties combing my hair after washing it. With my Tanger Teezer, and after using BEYOND’s shampoo and conditioner, my hair was easy to comb through and detangled!

Both the shampoo and conditioner consists anti-oxidant properties that will improve hair texture. Their key ingredients are cranberries, blueberries and juniper berries extracts and patented Sophora root extract that helps keep scalp moisturised, soft and healthy. These ingredients probably contributed to its berri-licious scent which I absolutely love!

Now, onto the shower foams trial. Similarly, I’m first sold to the products by their scent! To rank them just based on how good they smell it would be:

  1. Deep Moisture Shower Cream – smells exactly like honey, which makes me feel like eating it.
  2. Total Recovery Shower Cream – very floral because of the hibiscus flower extract, girly kind of shower foam, on the sweeter side.
  3. Revital Shower Gel – Citrusy and refreshing. Great for a hot summer day.
  4. Deep Moisture Shower Cream – reminds me of baby powder, with a slight scent of olive oil.

IMG_8060I spent the whole of yesterday in the hot sweltering sun at West Kowloon Promenade participating in the very first Run For Your Lives Asia event in Hong Kong with my friends from Starz People.

IMG_8064

It was exhilarating playing this Walking Dead inspired run with obstacles and zombies to overcome. You can either opt to be a zombie or a survivor. We chose the survivor side as it was much more fun to go through the entire 5km route of zombies and obstacle course (better workout too!).

IMG_8076Our run was right smack in the afternoon sun at 1pm when the sun was up and clouds were no where to be seen. Great if you wanna get a tan, but not so great for my work nature & hair. What you won’t realise is that the UV rays are pretty harmful to our hair too. It damages and dehydrates our hair unknowingly. In addition, for the past 2 weeks I have been working in the sun filming a commercial for HK Disney filled with hairspray as well. So my hair condition wasn’t in good shape after the run yesterday.

Decided to give my hair a treat with Aussie Miracle Moist shampoo and the 3 Minute Miracle deep conditioner.IMG_8040The shampoo was heavenly with a tinge of natural sweet smelling goodness which doesn’t overwhelm you with artificial scents that certain shampoo brands use. It uses Australian Macadamia Nut Oil to infuse moisture back into my hair. After shampooing my hair texture felt slightly better but not satisfactory. So I added on the 3 Minute Miracle Deep Conditioner after washing off the shampoo and squeezing out excess water from my hair. I applied a generous amount and left it on for 5 minutes (yes, I was being greedy as my hair was really really damaged!). The Australian Balm Mint added extra moisture and life back to my hair. When I applied the 3 Minute Miracle, the texture was thick and greasy like some conditioners and I was wondering if it will really make my hair silky smooth like some other richer conditioners. So after about 5 minutes, I rinsed it off and miraculously I could run my fingers through my hair again! After just 1 use, my hair feels very different, and I’m definitely one happy camper with this product. Brushing my hair last night was much easier and I had lesser hair fall from tugging. I’m gonna use it again tonight to further improve my hair condition. 🙂

Effectiveness: 4 out of 5

Texture: 5 out of 5

Scent: 5 out of 5

For those of you who have trouble finding a good shampoo & conditioner for severely damaged hair, maybe you can give Aussie a try! I am definitely a new fan of theirs!

Ever since I came to Hong Kong, I didn’t have the luxury to visit Mosche Hair Salon back home (Singapore) as often as I would love to to maintain my locks. So I had to find DIY home-care kits to give my hair the much needed moisture boost every month especially with the constant heat styling done to my hair due to my job nature. This is my to-go-to “steamer” for my hair that does wonders and gives me that same salon quality treatment, leaving my hair soft, filled with moisture and luscious! This simple kit consists of only the heater cap and a matching coloured fabric shower cap. Safe and easy to use. I’ll use this together with facial masks when I’m watching my favourite dramas in the evening after a shower.

Here’s how to use it:

Step 1

Wash your hair with a scalp cleansing/anti-pollution shampoo. I use Rene Furterer Forticea for a cleaner scalp and prevent thinning hair.Rene-Furterer-Forticia_Shampoo-2_zps6080ff4f

Rinse off shampoo and apply a light layer of conditioner (just to be able to comb through the wet hair more easily to apply treatment).  Rinse conditioner off. Towel dry.

Step 2

Apply any good hair treatment onto your towel dried hair. I am using Shiseido Professional Sleekliner Hair Mask currently.

IMG_7140Comb in the hair mask throughout your hair and avoid your scalp area. I would emphasise more on the ends as its usually a lot more dry and prone to breakage in my case.

IMG_7142Step 3

After hair mask/treatment is throughly applied throughout, twist your hair up into a bun for those with long hair and place the fabric shower cap over as such.IMG_7146

Step 4

Now place the heater cap over the shower cap. Avoiding your ears. And flick the switch on (lights will light up). Simple. Leave it on for about 20 minutes. IMG_6895The heating coil in the hear cap will slowly heat up. With water left behind in your towel-dried hair together with the hair mask, steam will form inside the hair mask enabling the hair mask to better work its magic on your hair.

Step 5

After 20 minutes, switch off the heating cap. Remove it and rinse out your hair with cold water. Cold water will help close up your hair follicles and trap in the moisture absorbed from the mask. And you are set to blow dry your newly revitalised hair!

This DIY kit saves a lot of time and money as I can use it as and when I want to even at 3am in the morning. Great for people who hates visiting the salon and sitting there for hours to get your hair done!

This hair steamer cap can be found in various online stores and costs between USD$10-15 depending on stores. Girls… time to hunt it down!

Happy Mid-Autumn festival everyone!

XOXO

Jessica
