Road to my Wedding: Adding Philips Visacare into my skincare regime

It’s about 2 months and counting to my big day and I have started to become a lot more hardworking with my home facials and nightly masks. 

Who doesn’t want to look like the most radiant and beautiful bride on your special day?

I was recently introduced to and began to  use Philips Visacare – a dual action air lift & exfoliation system – twice a week. Visacare is a skin resurfacing tool that helps remove dead skin cells, clear clogged pores, leaving you with a firmer and more radiant looking skin. Ever since I started on this home tool,  I’ve been addicted! It especially helps my problem clogged chin and nose areas rid of white heads. 

If you’re a daily user of make-up and sunblock. It is very important to do a deep cleansing of your skin to prevent clogged pores which includes adding microdermabrasion to your weekly routine.

And after using the micro-dermabrasion device, I checked out the head of the tool and gleefully saw loads of dead skin cells and even some white heads sucked out of my face! (A grossly gratifying feeling) 


It is important to immediately use a facial mask after using Visacare as your skin is fresh and raw, so it will thirstily absorb all mask serums in an instant. Also this will aid in the formation of new and healthy youthful skin. Whilst my mask is on, I will also add an extra step of using Philips Visaboost to help enhance the absorption of the benefits of the facial mask. This tool can also be used daily with your moisturizers. 


I simply love home facials and with the aid of numerous beauty tools available in the market nowadays, it makes it all the more easier.

The usage of Gold in skincare products are popular nowadays for its anti-aging properties. After a 20-30 minute application of the patches, you will notice a visible reduction in volume of the patch as most of the essence has been absorbed into your skin and the fine lines are plumped up appearingĀ less visible. Do not throw away this residual thin film. You can further melt it down with hot distilled water and use the remaining essence on the rest of your face!

REVIEW:

After the first application I did notice an obvious decrease in fine lines under by eye. Also, the area looked brighter and dark eye rings are less obvious. I have been using this nightly for about a week, and my under eye area has visibly improved in elasticity and looks smoother and less tired. The remaining melted essence is also added onto my nightly regime under my moisturiser acting as a serum. I love it!

So what exactly is “S-Line”? Well… S-Line is frequently mentioned by Kpop stars and on Korean television – Ā theĀ Korean way of describing a perfect female form or hour-glass figure. Application of Patch

  1. Clean and wipe skin dry
  2. Remove transparent film from patch
  3. Paste patch on areas of concern – tummy, thighs and/or arms
  4. Leave the patch on for 3-4 hours to allow the active ingredients to absorb into your skin

I applied the patch on all recommended areas. Even though the box suggests to apply 1 patch on each arm/thigh. I found the patch big enough (measures 14cm x 10cm) to cut it into half instead and use 1 patch for both arms/thighs.

Review:

The patch stays on respected areas nicely and does not feel uncomfortable at all. When I applied it, I felt a cold tingly feeling on those areas where the patch is on, signalling that the active ingredients are slowly being absorbed into my body. For effectiveness, I know results won’t be seen overnight, but immediately, I could feel myself getting hungry faster which also means my metabolism rose, increasing the fat burning effect if you exercise after application. I would recommend the use of this patch at night when you go to bed to leave it on without worrying about the patch falling off or wearing clothes to cover it up when heading out as it requires hours of application. And… who doesn’t mind assistance in slimming down stubborn areas while sleeping anyway?

Review: Kanebo’s Suisai Beauty Clear Powder

Recently, I’ve been testing out products that can refine the pores on my face and also cleanse it well enough to get rid of the pollution grime I get from the air in Hong Kong. And when I saw this face cleanser offered on Groupon HK, I decided to give it a try! Bought 2 boxes for HKD338. Each box contains 32 little capsules that contains the right amount of powder for a single use.

This Beauty Clear Powder is formulated for women is their 20s-30s for deep cleansing that is gentle enough not to dry out your skin. It removes excess grime & dirt in your pores so that blackheads won’t build up and controls sebum on your skin so that your facial pores are tight. Since I bought it, this cleanser has been added to my morning routine to test it out.

Each capsule is really tiny! About the size of the thumbnail. But it packs a punch!

To use it, gets some getting used to as I’ve always been using foaming cleansers from a bottle or tube not in powder form. First pour out the powder onto the palm of your hand.

The amount of powder is a mere 1.5cm in diameter. So adding the right amount of water is crucial to make it foam nicely. Too much it becomes a white runny liquid and too little it’s just gummy. I found the right amount after a few tries which is half the capsule. After pouring out the powder onto your palm, use the same container to collect half a capsule of water from your tap (barely a few drops of water) and pour it onto the powder and mix it up till it totally dissolves.

It is now a nice foamy mixture to massage into your damp face. Use it as with any facial wash – circular motion and concentrating on “dirtier” areas like the sides of your nostrils and chin.

This is an example of my first few attempts with too much water until it was so runny an hard to use.

After using this for about a week, I did find my pores tighter and blackheads reduced,Ā leaving my skinĀ brighter and moreĀ radiant.

Latest Philips Sonicare Diamond Clean

Ever since winning the award of Best Smile for the New Paper New Face modelling competition, I have always been really particular about how white my teeth are and how I need to keep them plaque-free so no cavities will come bother me. (Also, hate visiting the dentist! So I invest more in home-care) So when a friend of mine introduced to me this Philips Sonicare toothbrush back in 2007 Ā I got hooked! It was back in 2007 when I joined Miss Singapore Universe competition so natually I was a lot more conscious about my smile, my looks, my hair, my body etc as I was going to appear on live TV to compete. So buying this toothbrush was a no brainer. I did feel the immediate results of using Sonicare – my teeth felt smooth and plaque-free without any bits of food stuck in-between the gaps of my teeth! I became a FAN instantly! You know how when you use a manual toothbrush and you still feel like you have missed a spot after brushing? You never get it with Sonicare! Well… as the saying goes, “once you go Sonicare, you won’t turn back!”

Since then, I’ve been using Sonicare (and SonicareĀ lasts you a good 3-5 years depending on how well you maintain the toothbrush). I was using their Healthy White model and recently, I decided to give their top of the line model a try – Diamond Clean.

This model has 5 different modes – Clean, White, Polish, Gum Care & Sensitive – compared to the more basic model that I was using which only had Clean, Sensitive & Clean and White. I’ve been using the White mode for the past 2 weeks and so far loving it more and more. Found the sonic oscillations more vigorous yet still gentle on the gums and has a different rhythm compared to the regular Clean mode. And I actually feel my teeth looking a bit whiter (could be psychological but who cares! I AM more confident with my smile now!)

IMG_9370Sonicare is keeping it current for those tech-savvy peeps(which is practically everyone) by creating a USB charger built into the travel case for people like us who are always on the go! And you must also be wondering why the toothbrush packaging also came with a whiskey-like glass. That’s actually the charger and water glass for your daily use! How smart and sleek is that? With their toothbrush case updated in the design (the previous one from Healthy White was just a plain plastic white case), it’s nicer to carry it in you handbag or even slim enough to fit it into your clutch ladies! We can now brush your teeth at work, after lunch or in my case, before a photoshoot to ensure that perfect smile every time.

As you all know that I am now living in Hong Kong, the apartments here are wayyyyyy smaller than those back home in Singapore. So compact is key! And it’s nice to see Diamond Clean fitting right in on my make-up table before I whisk it off for shoots in my bag without taking up too much space.

So yeah… I am an extremely satisfied & loyal customer to Philips Sonicare and now with the Diamond Clean, I am definitely looking forward to even whiter and sparkly smiles for my photoshoots! Well good things don’t come cheap right as it has a heftier price-tag because it is the top of the line for Sonicare. (Guys, they have a more masculine Black edition) To me, it is absolutely money well spent!

L’Oreal Paris Beauty Backstage – LIPS FEVER!

I was waiting anxiously for this video to be out as I had heard so much about it when I was in Miami. Checked in when I got back but no sightings of the video… Then when I looked it up again today – it’s out!

L’OrealĀ Paris, Singapore engaged make-up guru Rick Yang to create beauty looks for Asian women using their wide range of products available in-store. Hence, “L’Oreal Paris Beauty Backstage” is born! I’m the face model for their edition featuring lip colours that Asian women can play around with! I experiment with make-up a lot but I never expected myself to fall in love with neon lip colour – Colour Riche #373 in Magnetic Coral! Gotta grab myself one of those lippies from L’Oreal.
